Ledbury Swifts Rovers - 2 (Hammond,
Robson)
Swifts were
on cup duty and had to travel to wellington in a repeat of
last years U9s cup final played at Edgar Street. The game
was a close fought encounter with both teams playing some
good football. The defence of Thomas Trigg, Joe James and
Max Coleman had an excellent first half as Wellington
pressed forward looking for a goal. The midfield duo of
Harvey Moss and Lewis Hammond had to work equally as hard
in midfield as lone striker Dan Batty's chances up front
were kept to a minimum. The hard work eventually paid off
for Ledbury as Lewis Hammond fired home to give Ledbury a
1-0 half time lead. The second half was an even bigger test
for the Ledbury lads with Wellington beginning to shoot
from distance at Ledbury's keeper Mikey Gooch and with a
completely new look midfield with the introduction of
Callum Robinson and Dan Smith the Swifts still battled on.
Swifts hard work payed off with only seconds remaining as
Smith picked the ball up in midfield and his accurate pass
found striker Jake Robson who drilled the ball home to send
Ledbury into the next round of the cup
Sat Sep 15 - League Match 2
Leominster
Minors Colts - 0
Ledbury Swifts Rovers - 13 (Batty 8, Mass
3, James, Robson)
Swifts
travelled to Leominster Minor Colts on for their second
league game of the season. After hitting 10 goals past
wigmore the week before, they found the net 13 times this
week. Goals from Jake Robson, Joe James, a hat-trick from
Harvey Moss and eight more goals more from goal machine
Daniel Batty after his five the previous week. Now Swifts
prepare to travel to Wellington for the first round of the
Cup, a re-run of last years U9s Final at Edgar
Street.
Sat
Sep 08 - League Match 1
Ledbury
Swifts Rovers - 10 (Batty 5, Robson
3, Moss 2)
Wigmore - 0
Last
season's unbeaten U9's League Champions kicked off the
season with a home game against Wigmore. The home side took
a little time to settle, against a very stubborn Wigmore
team, but an impressive first half hat-trick by Jake Robson
and an excellent strike from distance by Harvey Moss took
Ledbury into a 4-0 half time lead. Due to an injury to
Lewis Hammond just before the interval several changes were
made by the management at half time. Two of the new faces,
Dan Batty and Dan Smith combined well and it was Smith who
helped Batty to score an incredible five goals in the
second half. The scoring was complete when Moss completed
his brace with a goal sandwiched between Batty's five
goals. Credit should also be given to the Ledbury defence
of Trigg, James, Coleman and Robinson and goalkeeper Mikey
Gooch for staying alert and keeping a clean sheet.
