Local company Watson Fuels has agreed a three-year sponsorship deal with Ledbury Swifts, worth about £1,500.Swifts chairman Ronnie Davies welcomed the support and said he hoped it would be an ongoing thing.
Mr Davies said: "It means quite a lot to us and it covers a lot of expense that we don't have to worry about."

The money will go mainly towards the cost of kit, and the Watson Fuels logo will be carried on as many new items as possible. The windfall came about after the Swifts contacted Watson Fuels and asked for a donation towards the last Stromstad trip, where the Swifts played in the international tournament, The Roberts Cup, and came home from Sweden with the trophy.

Watson Fuels' branch manager, Steve Mizen, responded to the approach by offering the Swifts an ongoing sponsorship arrangement.

He said: "We are fully committed to being part of the community and so it gives us great pleasure to be able to help local youngsters in this way."

Watson Fuels also sponsor Ledbury Town FC and Ledbury Rugby Club and the deal comes at a time of unprecedented growth and success for the Ledbury Swifts.

The Swifts have teams in in age groups ranging from five to 16, and more than 13 sides are now taking the field regularly under their banner.

Successes last season included a league championship, two runners up placements and a league cup win. With success comes interest, and several Swifts players are attending coaching academies at Aston Villa, West Bromwich Albion, Coventry City, Cardiff City and Cheltenham Town. Manchester United has also shown interest.
