Sat Mar 25 - Friendly
Leominster Minors - 1
Ledbury Swifts Rangers - 2
(OG, Gunning)
Rangers visited Leominster for a friendly with a side to whom they lost narrowly in the autumn. Preparing for the promise of 11-a-side games in the coming season, Rangers travelled with a larger group, in order to try out new squad members. It was a brave experiment and one which paid dividends, both in the result and in pointers for the future. Both teams started with vigour and application, Leominster perhaps appearing the stronger initially. They are a tall, strong, athletic team and could move the ball about with some force; it is a credit to the Rangers defence that Minors' early forays were so often and so capably thwarted. Rangers also made some menacing attacking moves and, after a period of sustained pressure against their own goal, it was they who scored first. A Thomas Coleman corner across the face of goal was swept by a Leominster player into his own net under pressure from Tom Poynor, who had an impressive debut. The second goal was scored by another newcomer. Rory Gunning's well-taken shot followed a neat passing sequence started in the Ledbury penalty area, leaving Rangers 2-0 up at the break. The Rangers' stalwarts had been quick from the start to include the new players in their thinking and in their play. Some of the movement was excellent and the players seemed to mould with ease. Adam Dalley, Nick Bolton, Kane Hill, Will Blackaby, Josh Williams, Callum Hodges and Callum Green all shone in a confident team display. Despite the lead, however, Leominster always looked likely scorers. They had hit the upright more than once and some fine, stinging shots were well saved by Liam Bramley, making his usual impressive appearance in goal. When Leominster did score late in the game, it was the result of a few desperate seconds of goalmouth ping-pong. The score was to remain 2-1 to Rangers, but such was the attacking spirit of both teams, it could easily have ended 5-5.Perhaps Leominster deserved a draw, but Rangers should be rewarded for making the most of their chances. It was an entertaining match to watch and one that bodes well for the future of Rangers.

Sat Mar 18 - League Match 21
Westfields - 6
Ledbury Swifts Rangers - 0
On a cold day, both teams showed a great deal of spirit and played a competitive game. The opening exchanges were even, the play split between the two halves of the pitch. Liam Bramley was kept busy in the Ledbury goal by some strong attacking play and powerful shots. When he and his defence of Adam Dalley and Nick Bolton cleared the ball they were able to make use of the strength of Josh Williams and the deft runs and passes of Callum Green and Callum Hodges from midfield. Thomas Coleman made some searching runs forward into dangerous positions. Westfields scored twice in the first-half, both times after Ledbury failed to clear their lines. However, the whole team fought on and when the half-time whistle came they had had Westfields' goal under seige for some time. Westfields had made some good attacking moves on the break late in the half and Liam's outstanding efforts against some fierce shots meant that he ended the half being substituted by Kane Hill following an injury. Will Blackaby also came on for the second-half, joining the busy midfield. Will played from end to end, capping a good defensive display with a snap shot that he was unlucky to see whistle wide. Again Ledbury surged forward time after time and again they were denied a goal on several occasions. Thomas whipped in some very dangerous crosses from the right. Ledbury heads did not drop and both sets of coaches seemed amazed that Westfields had kept the ball out of their net. Kane was having an excellent spell in goal at the other end and made some fine saves. Josh Williams and team captain Nick Bolton were outstanding.

Sat Mar 11 - League Match 20
Ledbury Swifts Rangers - 0
Pegasus Juniors - 7
Rangers were at home against one of the top sides in the league on Saturday and went down despite a spirited performance. The first half saw some fine moments. For the first five minutes play was even. There were scoring chances for both sides, but Pegasus seemed faster to the ball. Rangers were defending with determination and it took two breathtaking individual runs from Pegasus to at last split the defence and leave the home team 2-0 down at the break. The teams both came out fired up for the second-half and the tempo was high from the outset. As players tired the odds began increasingly to favour Pegasus. Liam Bramley was a stalwart in goal, making some excellent saves and marshalling his defence. Ahead of him Adam Dalley, Nick Bolton and Will Blackaby all played their part in defence. Josh Williams, Callum Green and Callum Hodges were at the heart of things in a busy midfield, joined later by substitute Kane Hill. Playing alone at the front Thomas Coleman had some good efforts on goal turned away. For Rangers, it was keeper Liam Bramley and Adam Dalley who most caught the eye.

Sat Feb 18: League Match 17
Weobley Colts - 1
Ledbury Swifts Rangers - 8
(Coleman 3, Williams 2, Hodges, Green 2)
Rangers faced Weobley with the first full-strength team they have been able to field since the autumn. Confidence was boosted further when it became clear that the home side were able to field only six players. Despite Rangers' numerical advantage, early play was competitive and even, only a fine double save from Liam Bramley kept Weobley from scoring. Before long, however, Rangers were able to make their one-player advantage count. Defensive and forward players became more fluid in their movement and clever passes were strung together with skill and purpose. The first goal came following a speedy break. Thomas Coleman had won a corner with a determined attempt on goal; his ball from the flag was parried by the keeper into his own net. The second goal also came from a corner, this time clipped in efficiently by the hard-working Josh Williams. The third goal was a delight. Callum Hodges had surged forwards alone and looked to have no clear openings. He took a speculative shot from some range and the Weobley keeper was unable to hold it. Callum Green was unlucky to have a neat shot parried by the keeper shortly afterwards, but Coleman was onto the rebound to make it 4-0. Green was rewarded in the second-half for his neat touches throughout the game. He scored the fifth and sixth goals, the latter following a strong tackle and accurate, long upfield pass from Will Blackaby. Thomas and Josh added two further goals after an opportunistic consolation strike from Weobley late in the half. The final score was 8-1. The discrepancy in numbers should take nothing away from this result. Kane Hill was solid and effective in defence, providing some huge clearances; Adam Dally combined his defensive duties with darting, coltish runs up the wing. Nick Bolton was back in the team and showed all his usual skill and determination. This display will lift spirits and augurs well for the remainder of the season.

Sat Dec 17: League Match 12
Leominster Minors - 10
Ledbury Swifts Rangers - 0
With only eight players on the day, Ledbury faced a stiff test against a side that has been having an impressive season. From the whistle Ledbury showed good attitude and composure and for the opening few minutes, the contest seemed even. Possession was shared equally and Rangers put together some penetrating moves. The balanced play left the match when Leominster scored their first goal, a well-taken shot following some clever build-up play. A second followed shortly and the half ended with Ledbury trailing 6-0. Kane Hill had nevertheless made some fine saves in the Ledbury goal. For the second-half, Charlie Bilton took over in goal. Despite facing such strong opposition, everyone on the pitch played with as much conviction in the second-half as they had in the first. Will Blackaby made some excellent challenges on the left side of defence; Nick Bolton on the right played with his usual determination. The midfield faced a tough time but both Josh Williams and Liam Bramley gave their all. They wanted to move forward more than they did but were pinned back into a more defensive role by the attacking quality of Leominster. This unfortunately left the strike duo of Thomas Coleman and Callum Green out of the game for long periods. When they were able to move forward they found themselves swamped by a highly effective Leominster defence. Despite the final score of 10-0, the whole team can be proud of the application they showed against a very strong team.

Sat Dec 10: League Match 11
Golden Valley - 4
Ledbury Swifts Rangers - 2
(Green, Bramley)
LEDBURY were away to Golden Valley last weekend and Callum Green was able to score an early goal as Rangers put the home side under constant pressure. Rangers continued to push forward, building attacking moves from some solid defensive work. It took an excellent strike by Golden Valley from outside the area to breach the Ledbury defence and equalise, after which both sides kept piling on the pressure. Ledbury then went a goal down after some difficulties in defence. The first half ended 2-1, the latter stages notable for some fine containing play from Josh Williams and Thomas Coleman. Callum Hodges marked his debut for the team with a fine defensive display. In the second-half, Golden Valley continued to put Ledbury under pressure but the defence and `keeper Charlie Bilton held tight. When Ledbury went forward they were dangerous and they drew level with a fine curling shot high into the goal from Liam Bramley following one of his own corners. Two late goals from Golden Valley resulted in a final score that failed to do justice to the game. Ledbury played well from the first whistle to the last and will have felt they had earned at least a point from this game.

Sat Dec 03: League Match 10
Weobley - 5
Ledbury Swifts Rangers - 0
Rangers travelled to Weobley on Saturday, back to full strength and looking for a good result. For part of an evenly matched first-half they had their hosts under pressure. Weobley were strong coming forward, but determined defensive work from Adam Dalley, Will Blackaby and team captain Nick Bolton, coupled with a sterling goalkeeping display from Kane Hill, kept them safe. A clever through-ball from Callum Green saw Thomas Coleman sprinting for goal but the shot, under pressure from defenders, went inches wide. The only goal of the half went to Weobley, in the dying minutes and after a goalmouth scramble. Rangers fought back and they were unlucky to trail at the break. The second-half started unusually. Weobley's keeper (who did well to keep a clean sheet) kicked off with a shot straight for goal and he scored. Rangers were now rattled but continued to push forward. As each chance went wide or a player lacked a yard of pace their belief faded. Charlie Bilton had a good second-half in defence until an injury ended his game. Nick Bolton made the most of his license to get forward. As the match ended Weobley knocked in three more goals. A game that had looked evenly matched in the first half ended with a 5-0 defeat.

Sat Nov 26: League Match 9
Ledbury Swifts Rangers - 2
(Bolton, Bramley)
Bartestree - 8
Rangers hosted a league match against Bartestree with a squad weakened by illness. They lined-up against a strong Bartestree side with an empty substitutes' bench and with key players missing. Ledbury were again taken by surprise in the opening minutes of the game. Bartestree quickly produced two goals from seemingly innocuous positions, followed shortly by a third. Ledbury were clearly rattled and for the remainder of the half were forced to defend in numbers. That they went in at half-time only 4-0 down was testament to the defensive grit shown and to some fine and athletic saves from Charlie Bilton. The first few minutes of the second-half were a revelation following a number of positional changes. The opener for Rangers came from a three-player break by Nick Bolton, Liam Bramley and Adam Dalley. A neat shot from Nick gave the keeper no chance and it was 4-1. Within minutes it was 4-2 after a fine run and fierce shot from Liam Bramley. Bartestree were throwing everything into defence and the match appeared to be turning. Throw-ins and corners were being given away and a third goal for Ledbury appeared a safe bet. It was not to be, but the promise was there and Nick Bolton was clearly in his element higher up the field. The lack of substitutes then began to show and a refreshed Bartestree were able to score again. At 5-2 Rangers were still in it, but tiredness was becoming an issue. Josh Williams and Liam Bradley both played with grit and skill, showing dependability and clever distribution. The final score was 8-2, but this was a match to be remembered more for the grit and resourcefulness of an under-strength team.

Sat Nov 12: Mailes Cup - Round 1
Ledbury Swifts Rangers - 2 (Coleman 2)
Golden Valley - 6
Both teams started strongly, but it wasn't long before Golden Valley began to dominate the centre of the pitch with strong attacking runs down both flanks. Charlie Bilton was quick off his line to deny Golden Valley following their first real threat, however the first goal was not long following. Rangers' defence failed to deal with a ball played in from the right and were punished by the visitors' centre-forward. Golden Valley now looked very strong and went further ahead with a penalty, despite goalkeeper Charlie Bilton getting both hands to it. As is often the case this season, Rangers' heads went down as a result of this and they lost concentration generally and a third goal soon followed. Golden Valley continued to attack down the wings and punish the Rangers defence with their fourth goal being met well by their forward after an accurate cross again from the right. The fifth and sixth goals were soon to follow before half-time. Rangers came out well at the beginning of the second half presumably after a stiff talking to at half time by their coach Tim Green. Josh Williams and Liam Bramley woke up and battled well in the middle of the field sending Thomas Coleman through on goal and after managing to beat the defence saw his shot saved by the Golden Valley keeper. Rangers continued to press forward and after a well delivered corner from Bramley the ball was cleared off the line with Rangers failing to capitalise. Golden Valley were still a threat and broke way only to see substitute goalkeeper Will Blackerby make a great save. Rangers continued to look strong and attacked down the right forcing yet another corner which was well delivered by Bramley came into the box, this time it was met on the volley by Coleman for Rangers' first goal. Bramley linked up well with Coleman a number of times but saw the shots saved time after time then the second goal came after another long ball forward from midfield which Coleman ran through beating the defenders and the goal keeper.
