Apr 02: Ledbury Girls focus on the future
It's
all smiles from the girls of Ledbury Swifts, who were
formed at the start of the season by Mark Berry after
recognising a demand for girls' football. Mark said: "The
girls compete in the Herefordshire U14s league. Many had
never kicked a ball before but had a desire to want to keep
fit, be competitive and make friends on a Sunday morning."
The girls started the match on Sunday with a celebration
thanks to the Football Foundation, the UK's largest sports
charity, as it has provided a brand new Nike kit worth £400
as part of its Junior Kit Scheme. Mark said: "The girls
have come a long way since the start of the season and have
grown with increasing confidence week on week."

Swifts confirm first competitive Girls team
For
the first time in their history, Ledbury Swifts have formed
a competitive team for girls in the town - and hope they
can form more in the future. Interest in girls football has
brought a number of prospective players to the club's
Sunday morning training sessions, and they now have enough
players to form an U12's team which has been entered into
this season's Herefordshire Girls League. The club hope
that this will be the first of many girls teams, and they
are now looking for players at other age groups to get
involved.
